Muldraugh Map Guide

Project Zomboid: Muldraugh Map Guide

Muldraugh is the original Knox Country town and one of the four default spawn points. It's a long, linear settlement with industrial zones and warehouses on the northern outskirts. For new players, Muldraugh is the canonical "real Zomboid" experience.

Why Pick Muldraugh as a Spawn

  • A.A. Ron Hunting Supply & Ready Prep: the named gun store and army surplus store both sit in Muldraugh, giving you firearms and military gear without leaving town.
  • McCoy Logging Co. warehouses: dense industrial loot — planks, nails, propane, hand tools.
  • Self-storage corridor: the northern end has multiple self-storage lots, a top weapons-and-supplies hotspot in vanilla maps.

Best Base Locations in Muldraugh

  • The Large Warehouse (north): at the northern end of town — roof access (ideal for rain collectors and rooftop farming), large internal storage, and only big garage doors to barricade. Widely considered one of the strongest vanilla bases in the game.
  • The Gated Community (southwest): a block of upscale houses ringed by tall brick walls. Strong perimeter, but it's a maze — if zombies breach the wall it becomes a death trap, so seal the gaps early.
  • Isolated woodland house (southeast): a single house tucked behind tall fences deep in the trees. Nearly invisible to wandering hordes; the trade-off is distance from the loot strip.

Survival strategy — respect the Dixie Highway. Muldraugh is built around a four-lane highway that acts as a zombie magnet, and its population respawns and migrates from neighbouring cells. Don't fight in the open on the strip — lure zombies into side streets or treelines to thin them out, and do your highway looting in short, planned runs rather than standing brawls.

Multiplayer Tips

On a dedicated server, Muldraugh's main strip becomes contested fast. Coordinate with your group on Discord or via the in-game safehouse system. If you're hosting, consider adding custom spawn points to spread players across the town instead of the default start houses.

For a visual reference, the official Project Zomboid Map Project lets you pan and zoom every cell of Muldraugh.
